Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History, Met Museum
The Met’s Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History pairs essays and works of art with chronologies, telling the story of art and global culture through the Museum’s collection.
The essays are short and informative for survey-level teaching, where they may be most useful. If one starts at "Daguerre and the Invention of Photography" one can make it through a lot of the timeline of photo history, at least as the collection bears it. Sections on 19th century material and on Stieglitz and Steichen are particularly useful.
