Photographic Flux

Photographic Flux shows how closely the history, the present and the future of photographic developments are linked. Technical advances and achievements, social changes and tendencies as well as economic developments and the effects of large companies are reflected in the further development of photography and imaging media, which have been in constant and continuous change since their inception. In order to understand how new media are used and how they affect us and the world, we have to take a look at the past.

The Fotomuseum Winterthur is a leader in the presentation and discussion of photography and visual culture in their wide variety. Knowing about the constantly changing production of images and the resulting changes in the consumption of images, the museum illuminates historical and current developments in order to sharpen the understanding of the role of photography in society. In addition to exhibitions, publications and the collection, communication and knowledge dialog form a focus at the Fotomuseum Winterthur.
