In Dialogue' is an ongoing series of installations that places contemporary photographs in conversation with historical works in the Getty Museum's collection. This third rotation explores how artists repurpose existing imagery to create fresh compositions. Using a striking nineteenth-century collage by British merchant John Bingley Garland as a point of departure, the display features a broad range of photo-based works made after 1950, inviting us to reflect on the life cycle of images as they are recontextualised and reframed beyond their original contexts.

Featured artists: Alejandro Cartagena, John Bingley Garland, Justine Kurland, Wangechi Mutu, Toshiko Okanoue, Joe Rudko, Ilene Segalove, Lorna Simpson
